I believe the spirit of discovery underpins the ability to think creatively. Working with companies from completely different backgrounds, from Sri Lanka to the Netherlands, I’m open to new experiences. Diverse cultures and their ways of approaching problems amplify my understanding of the world.

Uncovering new ways

I think truly successful businesses contribute to the world through a purpose. But, many struggle with connecting business with purpose. My training with CIRCO from the Netherlands revealed just how much effort is needed for businesses to link profit and purpose, and where I can help. Now, I guide businesses to translate purpose-driven ethos into business strategies.

In Sri Lanka where I’m based, I encourage designers to explore new ways to understand their scope and work. I find my work helping them navigate through creative methods, develop new skills and thinking, sharpen their approach to work briefs, and better define services. It brings focus to their journey.

My curiosities cross industries and borders; it keeps my view evergreen and ever-evolving.

My work with entrepreneurs and businesses—whether it's retail or education, in Colombo or Amsterdam—involves helping them to bank on occupational strengths, finding new spaces in the market and connecting business solutions with social needs. It’s an act of aligning design thinking with problem-solving. I find that setting buzzwords like ‘innovation’ and ‘disruption’ as targets without a genuine case-by-case analysis gets businesses nowhere. Instead, I set out to point new pathways for clients, according to their unique problem areas; from adopting transdisciplinary skill sets to embracing experimentation, it’s never a one-solution-fits-all situation.

Areas frequently explored

Current affairs

With eyes on international relations, export-import policies, and development efforts, I can offer informed strategies through a balanced understanding of the global market. My interest in markets is directly linked to understanding valuation strategies while exploring stories gives me human behavioral insights.

At a local scale, tracking sourcing, production, consumerism, and mass communication dynamics underpins my ability to tailor solutions resonating with regional needs.

Creative sector

My academic foundation in design shapes my approach, tools, and layered understanding of the creative sector. It allows me to guide clients in the creative sector to streamline their processes.

Businesses outside the sector benefit when I help them think like creatives, collaborate with creators, or apply creative thinking to overcome challenges. My understanding of creativity’s commercial value stems from practice; helping businesses unlock that is central to my role as a pathfinder.

Science and innovation

The unusual and futuristic developments at the intersection of technology, science, and design are really what drive the newness that eventually trickles down to all industries. Keeping a close eye on evolving scientific and technological landscapes allows me to discern nuanced innovation patterns and offer that advantage to my clients.

It’s a proactive stance, offering clients solutions that integrate the latest breakthroughs and emerging developments while anticipating future trends.

Social developments

As much as governing policies, the role that enterprises play in shaping societal progress at both local and global scales is nothing short of pivotal. I guide clients to understand and develop purpose-driven ethos. My approach involves introducing new processes, methods, products, and services.

By connecting clients with collaborators and demonstrating how purpose-driven initiatives are cultivated globally, I help them translate these principles into their local businesses.
